Question:
My city has more than one inspector. Am I within my rights to request
another inspector? I doubt the objectivity of the one that came out. This
is in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.
Answer:
What I would do is talk to the inspector's supervisor or the
department head. Explain to that person that you want to do the job
right but that you think you are not getting the best service from
this inspector and can someone else come look at it.
If you don't get satisfaction from the inspection department,
go talk to a reporter from the local paper. They should love a story
like this. You'll be surprised how fast the inspector will want to
please you then.
I would say "Somehow we got off on the wrong foot with the guy." Don't
blame anyone, just suggest that you and your electrician aren't getting
along with the inspector and it would be best all around if someone else
were assigned to the job.
