Question:
What opportunities are there for Australian Degree trained Construction
Professional in the UK, Europe, Asia or US?
Answer:
Depends *entirely on experience and inside connections.
No experience the guy is worse than useless for the first few years. Lots
of successful experience proveable, and it will show clearly in the mans
demeanor and bearing... from a low of $50,000 (rock bottom) to a high of
$150,000 or so...higher if you produce miracles without getting shot by
anyone.
rates vary around the US as well...Florida seems to be paying about 40% less
than San Francisco for example, but living costs are much higher in SF.
If you are experienced you can search google for web sites on the subject of
"contract contruction management' and do well world wide, again depending on
the factors Ive mentioned above...
As you may or may not know, if you try to fake in construction management
the contractors eat you alive, the jobs goes over budget and the owner
shoots you....if you are top notch you can always find good work.. 5 years
experience for some is OK in a narrow area, say tract homes...for high rises
etc...10 or 20 years is a minimum...for industrial specialties that much or
more experience.... if you have over 30 years experience I found its best to
keep quiet about it...claim the years you have in the clients particular
project area.
