Question:
A friend of mine spent a year working on a ranch in Montana and came
back raving about how cowboy boots were the greatest footwear ever
invented for both work and casual wear. He got me wondering whether
they might be. However, living in north central Massachusetts one
doesn't see people wearing cowboy boots around town, let alone for sale
in any stores.
Do they work well for working around the property, versus say regular
work boot? Are they durable? Do they clean up easily? What about cold
and snow?
Looking on the Internet I notice there are different styles. Which
style is best for work and casual use?
Answer:
A lady went into a bar in Waco and saw a cowboy with his feet propped up
on a table. He had the biggest boots she'd ever seen!
The woman asked the cowboy, "Is it true what they say about men with big
feet?"
The cowboy grinned and said, "Shore is, little lady! Why don't ya'll
come on out to the bunkhouse and let me prove it to you?"
The woman wanted to find out for herself, so she spent the night with him.
The next morning she handed him a $100 bill.
Blushing, he said, "Well, thankee, ma'am. Ah'm real flattered. Ain't
nobody ever paid me fer mah services before."
The woman replied, "Don't be flattered ... take the money and buy
yourself some boots that fit."
For a first pair of cowboy boots, I really wouldn't advise that. I
can't believe that Massachusetts is still so isolated from civilization
in the 21st century. Granted, the state is only the size of an average
county, but somebody there has to sell boots.
You may get all kinds of oppinions from those who have never worn a
cowboy boot. To me they were the most comfortable shoe I ever had on. I
too have a high arch so now days have a problem finding one I can get
my foot in. So advise you find a place you can "try on".
Remember cowboys do some very strenous work so their shoes have to be
good for working in. You may be able to contact some true cowboys on
the net who can speak first had.. Everybody likes different things and
boots is one of them so do as you like and be happy.
