Question:
Someone told me one that different trades on a jobsite ave different colored
hard hats. Is this true? If so what do the different colors mean?
Answer:
I've used Rustoleum Hard Hat with good results. On bare metal I use the Hard
Hat zinc rich cold galvanize followed by Hard Hat metal finish. Looks great
and so far (about 2 years) has held up beautifully outdoors.
My home machines are old and are painted 'Battleship Gray' (Delta).
I'm thinking of painting them to freshen up the environment, but no
matter what color I think of, somehow it seems inappropriate for the
machines. Any suggestions about colors that would seem right? They
are going to be housed in a new wood shed. I'm hoping to make it clean
and fresh, but not tootsie-frootsie.
Two schools of thought there.
1) Keep the colors correct relative to the original paint scheme, thus
preserving the historical integrity of the tools (you did say they were
old).
2) Pick a color that makes *you* happy. If you don't intend to sell the
equipment to someone who is a collector, then take your pick. Maybe select
one of the "newer* Delta colors, something like the 1990's muted blue color
might get you the lift in color you are looking for pushing you into the
"tuiti-fruiti" realm. Another idea would be to browse some industrial
equipment web sites (maybe Zero or other companies that make test equipment
racks). You might find something there that is fresh, yet not gaudy.
