Question:
I'm new to this website, so my apologies if I am covering old
territory - but we are having difficulty locating various home safety
products (i.e. door knob devices, safety latches for cabinets, etc.)
before our little wonder begins wandering about the house any time now.
Does anyone know of a good catalog or store (we are in Connecticut) who
carries a good selection of safety products? We seem to be picking
them up piecemeal and are still in need of some items
Answer:
I have found that Toy's R Us usually carry most if not all of the products
you mentioned.
I know what you mean about looking all over for all the little safety
devices. I have also had to go from place to place. I have also recently
purchased a brochure that has lots of safety ideas for parents to keep
their kids safe. email me and I'll give you their address.
In our area (San Diego- not much help to you) we can also get a professional
babyproofer to come in and evaluate the house and install all the necessary
latches, etc. They also point out things they can't/won't secure (like
antique grandfather clocks, for example) and what you might do about them. The
woman who did our house was great- she crawled around and saw things I had
completely overlooked. She was part of a national company so maybe you have
one- I think it was "Babyproofers Inc" or maybe "Babyproofers International".
You might check your phone book. She also could get extra things for us at
reduced prices- some things that were hard to find or that they found to be
better than average (particular type of baby gate, for example).
The Toys-R-Us in our area carries a big selection of the "Safety First"
line, which includes door knob thingies and safety latches and outlet
plugs, as well as neat bags for your car, stroller, tub, etc. Saftey First
may have a catalog, I don't know.
