Question:
I was recently visiting the Hat Industries website (I'm pretty sure it was
their own site, although I suppose it may have been someplace else reviewing
their products).
Anyway, whatever site I was on mentioned Hat is using a differnet (harder?)
plastic for new productions. If so, has anyone tried painting these? If yes,
what success?
Answer:
I should also mention that Veni Vidi Vici is very impressed with the HAT
range and will be bringing out even more decals for their figures and tanks.

Selling enough to do 500,000 figures a year, so I guess they do work. Others
may care to chip in with their views.
HAT asked me to do some for their figures and the project has gone very
well - I must admit I know very little about the 20mm plastic figure market,
so HAT advise me.
I have painted the new HAT 1/72 scale tanks and the paint went on without a
problem. I primed the area with black prior to putting on the Olive Drab paint.
Worked fine.
Excellent, I will have to try to recall to add some next time I'm on a buying
spree (visions of grand design for the tabletop, just need time, money, and
opportunity to realize any of that).
I'm slightly surprised the 20mm plastic option isn't more popular. I mean,
compared to metal figures they are really quite cheap. I can see using metal
to fill out the specialists and provide more pose diversity, but the price....
I am learning. Transfer (decal) sheets for 20mm sell
in thousands, as compared to hundreds for 15/25mm designs. As a result the
price can be lowered because of economies of scale. But I -like many
wargamers I suspect - know very little about the 20mm plastic market.
