Question:
I was wondering if anyone has any idea on what riding boots to get. Its for
street riding not the bush. I ride my bike in all weather. I am after
something that will also protect my ankles. It will also need to be
waterproof. If u have any prices that would be good too.
Answer:
I wear work boots. Unfortunately because of CSA all work boots in Canada
are now steel toed, which is a bad thing as the steel can cut off toes when
struck from the front. But you can get leather hiking-like boots, and
likely non-steel toed safety/work boots out of Canada. These are only about
$80cdn, or roughly $53us.
Then of course you can always buy riding boots. I've been eyeing this pair
of Technic boots and they're only about $250 Canadian ($159us)

I don't know if this would help, but the On Road Sympatex don't have a
zipper. They use 4 velcro straps, and if you pull the straps out of the
strap holding bit, the boots open up darn wide, then when you put the
straps back, the leather upper kinda folds in on itself, to conform to your
leg. Long socks might be recommended, as the boots are rather tall(up to
at least mid-calf on me).
