Question:
Okay, taking the advice given to me in this newgroup earlier I was gonna go
buy some good boots. Problem, no one carries them! I can't even find a pair
of cheapys like the ones that just fell apart on me. Stores only carry
expensive boots that don't seem like the best for hiking like Doc Marten's
and Skechers or work boots. Aparently boots are now "out of season". (and I
can't seem to find any hiking/climbing/whatever supply stores) Since I've
got a camping trip coming up during spring break I really need some good
boots. Anyone happen to live near this area and know some place to go?
Answer:
I'm replying to my own message, Yes yes the obvious solution would be to
order online. I'd prefer to get a good fit in the store though. There are
online stores that offer return policies but I might end up having to send 4
or 5 shoes back to get a good fit and I don't wanna have to deal with that.
I would say try some of the outlet malls in the Dallas area, even though
it's a long drive. I believe one in Grapevine? And several shoe warehouses
in industrial Dallas, though they probably would not have many hiking boots
at those. The shoe stores at outlet malls usually have a selection of off
season footwear and discontinued lines. I found some cycling shoes at a Nike
outlet for dirt cheap, and my mother sends us nice shoes for her grandbabies
all the time from those outlet stores.
I'm not IN Dallas myself, but I grew up there and have family in the area.
My brother may know of some stores in that area, but nothing nearer to you.
:( Sorry. I'll post again if I can get hold of him to ask.
G.., where do you live? If you can spare a Saturday, I would stroingly
recommend Backwoods in OKC. They have just what you need all year round.
They are located up on NW122nd and May in north OKC.
