Work Boot Changing Chair ?

Question:
I'm trying to figure out how to build a chair that has a place were you can set your foot to put on work boots or to take them off. Something like an old shoe shining chair were you set your foot with shoe on to get a shoe shine. This would be a chair with foot jig and storage area under chair for boots. If anybody could help or maybe a link showing a picture of something like this.

Answer:
My dad had, what I thought were antiques, oh the stupidity of youth, a couple of boot removal "thingies", sorry I can't remember the correct name.

Basically, a piece of wood, about 5"-6" wide, about 12"-15" long, and 3/4" thick

A notch was cut in one end and a cleat, say 1x2, was nailed under the bottom, to lift the notched end off the floor.

The idea was you put your foot on the top of the piece, your heel of boot on your other foot in the notch, and pull your foot out of your boot. Switch feet, repeat process, and you have your boots removed.

Sounds more like a ergonomic foot stool especially designed for the job would be better than an entire chair. I don't have such a plan but have designed dozens of ergonomic desks (URL below).

Let me know if you can not find exactly what you need. I will see if I can develop something.

They were everywhere in the old days! Here in western NY dairy country we called them "bootjacks". Both the homemade kind as described earlier, and the fancier commercial versions which were cast iron, made to look like a beetle with his "antennae" spread out to stick the heel of the boot in.
