Question:
Am I the only who doesn't fully understand how or why some women own dozens of
pairs of shoes? What's going on here psychologically?
Answer:
I only wish my wife owned just a few dozen shoes. I call her Imelda (Marcos)
the II. A couple of weeks ago, out of curiosity, I counted, her shoes.
Final count was 132 pairs in their boxes plus (about) 16 more athletic
shoes, sandals, Tevas, etc that weren't in boxes. I have to give her this,
she does keep them neatly stacked, in their boxes, on the closet shelves and
does "thin the herd" every two years or so. FWIW, I think I have about 6
pairs of shoes. :)
I remember shopping w/a b/f once for another pair of black
shoes. He didn't understand why I needed them, since I already had one pair.
It's hopeless trying to explain the difference to them between casual
moccasins, patent leather and suede shoes.
Hate to break a paradygm here but I could care less about shoes. My
favorite pair right now are a pair of size 5 (men's) steel toe work boots
that are almost indestructable. Walmart, $25.00. I've had them for 18
months and expect another year or so out of them. And, man, do I look
*kickin'* wearing my boots with my summer sundresses.
My thing is, it almost doesn't matter what you're wearing. If your
shoes and/or bag are bad, it will ruin your outfit. I have to cop to
being obsessed with shoes. It's true you have to match the clothes
you have, but a great pair of shoes and bag can make anything work.
