Question:
I'm thinking of buying my first setup. How good is Burton's stuff? If it's
made with the same quality and attention to detail as their clothing, I expect
they're pretty good.
Answer:
I just got a new board and bindings, I bought and love the Burton Custom
Freestyle bindings so far... I looked at a BUNCH of bindings (or at least
a bunch of stores that had bindings, I'm sure I didn't see much of a range)
before I decided to spend a little extra money and go for the Burtons.
They have a nice high back (one place, when I was asking about high back
bindings, said - "Oh, I think they've stopped making those now"), the
straps work really well (though if you ask me all the racheting clasp on
the top buckle feels a bit flimsy, Burton's are better than any of the
others I tred though) and overall they feel very comfortable and solid
(just for reference, I'm still a pretty intermediate boarder trying to move
up to more technical stuff).
I just bought a pair of Burton Rulers in a size 9 1/2, and I'm having second
thoughts about the fit. I wear size 10 street shoes and these boots felt
pretty snug and comfortable at the shop, but they didn't have either size 9 or
10 in stock for comparison. After trying them on at home, I noticed that my
heel seems to come up a bit (feels like my heels come up about half an inch to
an inch or so) when I stand on my toes. They don't come up at all while just
walking around.
The boards kick ass...its the only board that I've ever bought but have
rided quite a few different ones...I don't know...riding a burton is like
riding on air...as for the bindings and boots...I have no idead...I've
nere ridden with burton bindings or been in burton boots...
