Work Boot Warehouse, Why I choose to use Linux

Question:
I have been using Linux as my main OS since XP was brought out, I made the switch as I wasn't willing to agree to the terms of the EULA I swap machines add bits update bits, and having to ask permission from M$ to re-install the OS was to much for me, and was fed up with managing the OS.

I had been using Mandrake, but because my nephew was using SuSe I bought that and havn't looked back. What I like is the stability, and ease of use. I am not a CLI puriest, but can be found using using KVM to run games like Unreal Tornement and Light Source for editing RAW images from my Nikon. I use a modest machine 1.4Ghz 500mb Nvidia Graphics card, and look to upgrading but I don't see any great benefit, I have a 2nd box 700mz running Fedora Core 6, and a IBM Laptop with SuSe 10.0.

Answer:
I was reminded how good Linux is when today I needed to clean up my mothers Laptop, "it takes a long time to do anything" the antivirus + malware logs showed 5 events were it needed to remove items, it had more services running than you can shake a stick at, she only uses it for email and playing Bridge online. I was also asked to install a DVD writer in my sisters PC, 2gig with 500m, by the time I had it installed and configured I was ready to pound it with a heavy object(I had to wait 15m for it to shut down 12 updates), it was like wading through treacle with a lag longer than it takes for a super tanker to stop.

I changed when XP came out, if you are considering upgrading to Vista, first take a look a Linux, Kbuntu, Ubuntu, SuSe, Fedora are all fisrt class Distributions. If like me you just want to sit down and use your PC then you won't go wrong with Linux. I also like the fact that I run nothing dodgy anymore, I have nobody checking to see that I have a license so I can keep updated.

I am not a Linux purest I use XP (from my Gateway Laptop) so I can print images to my Canon i9950, and for graphic work via Painter-IX or Photoshop (Yes I can print via Linux but find the Canon drivers are much better for images).

Are you wasting all the money from your unemployment cheque in burning CDs and installing different distributions. Get a job in the warehouse 5 blocks from your place.

Funny. Wifey don't need baboon sitting in from of old computers installing distribution after distribution rather than packing boxes at the warehouse. Find some work.
